SummarizAI (“we”, “us”) provides a Chrome extension and website at summarizai.ink that help you summarize YouTube videos with AI. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect
Account information
When you sign up or sign in (email/password or Google), we store your email address, optional name and profile picture, plan tier, and authentication tokens so you can use the service across devices.
YouTube-related data
When you request a summary on a YouTube watch page, the extension reads information needed to generate it, such as:
- Video ID, title, channel, description, duration, and other public metadata
- Captions/transcript text and timing from the page or YouTube’s caption endpoints
- Visible comment text on the watch page when comment summaries are requested
We do not access your private YouTube account, subscriptions, or watch history beyond the video you are viewing when you use Summarize. For a plain-language overview, see how SummarizAI handles video data.
Summaries and usage
We process transcript and related text to produce summaries. We may store summaries, transcripts, video IDs, language settings, token usage, and quota records tied to your account to provide the service, enforce plan limits, and improve reliability.
Extension and device data
The extension uses chrome.storage for your sign-in token, language preference, and cached account details. Our servers may receive session metadata such as IP address and browser user agent when you sign in or use the API.
Payments
Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We receive billing status and customer identifiers from Stripe; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
How we use data
- Provide AI summaries and related features you request
- Authenticate you and sync settings between the extension and website
- Enforce free and paid usage limits
- Process subscriptions and support requests
- Protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- Improve and maintain the product
AI and service providers
We use third-party providers to operate SummarizAI, including AI model providers (such as OpenAI) for summarization and transcription, cloud hosting, and Stripe for payments. These providers process data on our behalf only as needed to deliver the service, under contractual safeguards.
Remote code
The extension loads part of the summary experience from our website (summarizai.ink) inside an iframe. That hosted application communicates with our API. We do not run arbitrary third-party scripts in the extension package.
Cookies and local storage
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions. The extension uses browser storage for tokens and preferences. You can clear extension storage or sign out to remove locally stored credentials.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising profiles
- We do not read YouTube pages except when you interact with SummarizAI on an allowed YouTube URL
Data retention
We keep account and usage data while your account is active and as needed for billing, security, and legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
Your choices
- Access and correction: view or update account details in the extension popup or by signing in on the website
- Deletion: email support@summarizai.ink to request account deletion
- Opt out: uninstall the extension and cancel any paid subscription through the billing portal
Children
SummarizAI is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
We may process and store information in countries where we or our providers operate. By using SummarizAI, you understand your information may be transferred internationally with appropriate safeguards.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above.
