Terms of service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SummarizAI—the Chrome extension, website at summarizai.ink, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, installing the extension, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are
SummarizAI (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Service described at summarizai.ink. For questions about these Terms, contact support@summarizai.ink.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country to consent to online services) to use SummarizAI. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or if we have previously suspended or terminated your account for violation of these Terms.
3. The Service
SummarizAI helps you summarize and interact with YouTube videos using AI. The Service includes, without limitation:
- A Chrome extension that adds summarization tools on supported YouTube watch pages
- A hosted web application (including content served from
summarizai.ink/app/) embedded in the extension - APIs that process video metadata, captions/transcripts, and related text to generate summaries, timestamps, chat replies, study materials, and related features
- Free and paid subscription tiers with different usage limits and feature access
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We do not guarantee that the Service will work on every YouTube page, video, or browser configuration. YouTube’s layout and policies change frequently; some features may be unavailable when captions, metadata, or page structure cannot be read reliably.
4. Your account
To use most features, you must create an account with an email address and password or sign in with Google. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate account information
- Keeping your credentials secure
- All activity that occurs under your account
Notify us promptly at support@summarizai.ink if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or terminate accounts that appear fraudulent, abusive, or in violation of these Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use SummarizAI only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws. You must also comply with YouTube’s Terms of Service and any other third-party terms that apply to content you access through YouTube.
You may not:
- Use the Service to violate copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights of others
- Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically harvest YouTube content except as permitted through normal use of the extension on pages you visit
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent usage limits, authentication, or security measures
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, our servers, or networks
- Use the Service to generate spam, malware, harassment, or illegal content
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties without our written permission
- Misrepresent AI-generated output as human-authored official statements from SummarizAI or from video creators
We may investigate violations and cooperate with law enforcement where required.
6. YouTube and third-party content
SummarizAI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Video titles, transcripts, comments, and other materials belong to their respective owners. Summaries and AI outputs are derived from content you choose to process and are provided for your personal learning and productivity.
You are solely responsible for how you use summaries and other outputs, including sharing, publishing, or relying on them for decisions. Do not use SummarizAI as a substitute for professional, medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical advice.
7. AI-generated content
Summaries, chat responses, study cards, fact-check results, and similar outputs are generated by automated systems and may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI output for any purpose.
You should verify important information against the source video and other reliable sources before acting on it. Fact-check and similar features are assistive tools, not guarantees of truth.
8. Plans, usage limits, and billing
Free tier
Free accounts are subject to usage limits, including a daily cap on distinct YouTube videos you may summarize or use with certain features (currently three videos per UTC day unless we publish a different limit). Limits may change; we will reflect current limits in the product or on our website where practical.
Paid subscriptions (Pro)
Paid plans (“Pro” or similar) remove or raise certain limits and unlock additional features as described on our Upgrade page or in the extension at the time of purchase.
Payments
Subscriptions and other paid offerings are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Prices, billing intervals, and taxes (if applicable) are shown at checkout.
Cancellation and refunds: You may cancel a subscription through the Stripe customer billing experience we provide or by contacting support@summarizai.ink. Cancellation stops future charges; access to Pro features typically continues until the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started.
We may change subscription prices or plan features with reasonable notice. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price for subsequent billing periods.
9. Intellectual property
We own or license the SummarizAI name, logo, extension, website, software, and branding. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as intended.
You retain ownership of content you submit or cause the Service to process (such as text derived from videos you view). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, process, store, and transmit that content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and, if applicable, canceling your subscription.
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, pose a security or legal risk, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive termination.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or compatible with future YouTube or browser updates.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUMMARIZAI AND ITS OPERATORS, SUPPLIERS, AND PARTNERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SummarizAI and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or third-party rights.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any plan-specific terms shown at checkout, are the entire agreement between you and SummarizAI regarding the Service. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SummarizAI operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
