Prefer questions you can speak in one breath. Cloze deletions work when a sentence has one missing load-bearing word. They fail when you hide half a paragraph. Basic question/answer works when the idea is a decision or a step list.

Write the front in your words, not the instructor’s slide title. If the slide says “Overview of the algorithm,” the card should say “List the three steps of algorithm A in order.” Slide titles are labels. Cards are tasks.

What belongs on the back

The back needs a gradeable answer: the definition, the three steps, the exception. It also needs a verified timestamp if the idea is easy to mis-hear in captions—formulas, names, “not” that auto-caption dropped.

Do not paste a paragraph from the transcript. You will read instead of recall, and you will think you knew it. If the idea needs a paragraph, it needed three cards.
